Juliane Etima is a Ugandan living in Kampala, Uganda. She is a Behavioral Scientist with training at Masters Level in Counseling Psychology and an alumni CDC/MakSPH (Centers for Disease Control – Makerere University School of Public Health) HIV/AIDS fellow trained in HIV/AIDS program management and Advanced Qualitative research methods. Juliane is the Director of the Psychosocial Support Division at Makerere University-Johns Hopkins University (MUJHU) Research Collaboration. Her career ambition is to make a significant contribution to the lives of children and adolescents infected with HIV/AIDS and their caregivers. I am a keen observer of national and international trends related to the promotion of child & adolescent health through various means which includes conducting quality clinical and behavioral health research and practicing good clinical care to improve child survival especially in communities found in developing countries such as Uganda. This has led to her growing interest in ensuring that women do not get infected by HIV as this will be a major contributor to stopping transmission of HIV from mother to child. She has extensive experience in the provision of pediatric social, emotional, educational and psychological support and she seeks to use this experience to inform clinical practice that will improve the well-being of children & adolescents.
