The University of Washington Global Health E-learning Program (eDGH), led by Ann Downer, EdD, MS, has technical expertise implementing e-learning programs for department courses as well as grant-funded centers and programs. We further this mission by using distance learning technologies to expand the reach of the department’s courses and training programs.
Drawing on the experience of specialists in instructional design, e-learning, web technologies, and program development, we develop, implement, and assess e-learning programs aimed at building health care workforce and institutional capacity such as health training institutes and universities.
Our team of e-learning and technical experts can create and customize trainings, courses, and certificate programs for a variety of settings and needs. We also frequently provide technical support and assistance to partners wishing to develop their own distance learning capacity and subject material.
Our work includes:
- Self-paced e-learning modules
- University graduate-level blended-learning courses and certificate programs
- Interactive webcasts
- Telemedicine seminars
- Website design and development
- Instructional design for e-learning courses
Currently, our e-learning activities are being conducted in more than 30 countries, implemented in partnership with national ministries of health and education, universities, and health training institutes. We work across multiple country sites and in settings with limited technology and low bandwidth.
