Along with the Kenyan Ministry of Health, I-TECH has supported the development of KenyaEMR, an open source EMR, and implemented it throughout 22 counties in Kenya at 340 health facilities. Successful, sustained use of EMR data depends upon knowledge and skills of front-line healthcare workers to use such systems. High turnover of healthcare workers and new EMR system features result in an ongoing need for and access to EMR training.
In response to this need I-TECH partnered with eDGH to develop two interactive, self-paced, computer-based, e-learning modules covering EMR data quality and using EMR data for decision-making in six facilities. As these modules are rolled out to the entire country, a peer-to-peer component will also be included.
